Caring For Your Reborn Doll

Congratulations on your new baby!

Following these guidelines will help your reborn doll last a lifetime. Treat your doll as you would a real newborn. Reborn dolls are created with the adult collector in mind. They may not stand up to every day or rough handling. Please consider this when gifting one to a child, as they are not made from the durable hard plastic vinyl of typical store-bought dolls.

Keep your baby away from extreme temperatures. Heat is particularly harmful, as it can make the vinyl soft and pliable, leading to warping or melting. Never leave the doll in a hot car or near any heat sources. Also, protect it from excessive moisture, which can damage the paint and cloth body. Avoid placing it on dark fabrics or near ink, as dyes can transfer and stain the vinyl permanently.

My reborns wears real baby clothing and generally fits newborn/first size and some 0-3 month clothes, depending on the brand. Size 1 nappy's usually fit best.

Be gentle when posing your new baby. The arms and legs can be posed but should never be forced. Applying too much pressure on the seams or joints can lead to tearing or breakage. Avoid holding the doll by the arms or legs, as this can damage the joints.

Do not bathe your baby, as the cloth body may absorb water and you may damage the paint.

While it might be tempting to use baby cleaning products, many contain alcohol, which can harm the paint and vinyl. If your doll gets dusty, gently wipe it with a clean washcloth. For dirt on the vinyl, use a slightly damp cloth and then dry it gently with a towel.

Take care with eyelashes, whether glued or rooted; avoid pulling them or exposing them to heat, which could melt the glue. Although the eyes are glued in place, avoid pushing or forcing them, as this can cause them to move or dislodge.
